The villa and gardens of Raixa, along with its magnificent gardens, was initially an 16th Centuryt Moorish farm. At the turn of the 18th century, Cardinal Despuig, one of the key figures in the Enlightenment, built the grand estate and gardens which incorporate elements of Italian palazzo as well as Greek temples and Asian-influenced structures
